T.S.T.C. MAILING LIST NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2011

It seems an age since the last newsletter, and, I guess, that’s because it is! The last mailout was a big one, because it had to cover both the pantomime, and “Father’s Day”, which have both now come and gone. And, now, this will be a big mailout, because it is the last for the year, and not only heralds our final 2011 play, “Summer End”, but also our 2012 season!

FUN FOR YOUNG AND OLD!

What fun it was to experience our last pantomime, “Goldilocks’ Mum Meets The Three Bears”! It was lovely to see so many of you from the mailing list there (with and without accompanying children).
It was a joy to perform for all of us, and it seemed joyful for the audience to watch. This is one of my favourites of all the pantomimes I have written, and it was very special to me because I got to perform opposite my daughter, as Goldilocks. In fact my whole family (bar the teenager) was in it, and it will remain a special memory for us because of that.
Hopefully, it will also be a special memory for the many children who came along to laugh and cheer, and boo and hiss, and quake with fear and excitement. And for the adults who accompanied them, it is always special to be there with your little ones, and watch them become engrossed in a live theatre experience. Not that most of the adults needed a child; they seemed to be getting quite enough enjoyment on their own.
Next year, unfortunately, the pantomime is on hiatus again. Firstly, because we could not fit it into our schedule of booked dates, and secondly, because Scott and I need a rest. It takes a lot of work to put on a pantomime. Hopefully, we will be able to see it back in the schedule in 2013.

WHAT A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
Another show that’s come and gone with lot of fun is “Father’s Day”. Congratulation to director Glenn McMahon, and the cast and crew for a really funny show. I thought it was hilarious when I saw it, and I know from the excellent feedback from the audiences that you thought so too. That Eric Chappell is a great playwright – his comedies always hit the spot!

CHAPPELL’S BACK!
So now that we’ve enjoyed our last Eric Chappell hit , we present you with another one. Our next play “Summer End” is also by Eric Chappell - still as funny, but with a different sort of story; involving two old ladies in a nursing home, and a possible murder/mystery, wrapped up in that usual Chappell humour.
The full details of the show are on the flyer; including the plot, dates and booking details.
We know you will enjoy this final slice of humour for the year, and look forward to seeing you for the last time in 2011.
Booking information for this production is enclosed, and bookings are now open. Don’t forget – first in best dressed. Remember to call before you book if you have specific seating requirements. Many patrons have already booked their seats, so get in quickly! Sunday 13th November is already quite heavily booked!
Pay in cash time for this show is as follows: Sunday 23rd October10.30am – 11.30am.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
So now, we have to attend to the details of the 2012 season. Included with this newsletter is a 2012 subscription information brochure, with the names of the plays, plot details, and performance dates. We are pleased to present another year of comedies; beginning with “Sand Castles” by Bob Larbey (writer of TV’s “As time goes by” and “The Good Life”), followed by “Fiddlers Three” another great comedy by Eric Chappell, and finishing with “Calendar Girls” from the hit 2003 movie starring Helen Mirren (and we will be one of the first NSW amateur groups to present this play! How exciting!)
Subscription bookings are now open. I have included a special booking form specifically for subscriptions. Please do not confuse it with the single booking form for “Summer End”. Ticket prices for 2012 have had to be increased. We hate having to increase prices, but our outgoing costs continue to spiral ever upward (including a 50% increase in hire of the School of Arts), so I hope you understand.
Tickets prices for 2012 will be: Adults - $20, concessions - $17, and groups of 10+ - $15.
Kiosk vouchers will increase to the still very reasonable price of $2, and still include tea/coffee/juice and cake.
The other change to our format will be a 5pm Saturday matinee performance for the middle of the year show, in place of the Saturday evening 8pm show. We are interested to see what you think of this, as we could introduce it to all shows depending on its reception.

Well, I think that’s about it for now. I hope you enjoy this year’s subscription season and the form itself. Last year’s theme was food, this year’s theme is chairs, and it looks great if I say so myself.
Be seeing you at the theatre.
Regards,
Christiane Brawley
